Brake pedal — removal and installation (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Remove the trim panel from the instrument panel.

2. Remove the trim panel. See section 9E, "Instruments/Driver Information System".

3. Remove the brake light switch. See procedure "Brake light switch" in this section.

3. Remove the brake light switch. See procedure «Brake light switch» in this section.


4. Disconnect the retainer from the vacuum booster pushrod.

5. Remove the nut from the top of the brake pedal lever.

6. Remove the brake pedal.

6. Remove the brake pedal.


7. Remove the brake pedal cover from the brake pedal.

7. Remove the brake pedal cover from the brake pedal.





Installation procedure



1. If necessary, install a new pedal pad.

1. If necessary, install a new pedal pad.


2. Lubricate the pedal lever with plastic grease.

3. Install the nut on the top of the brake pedal lever.

Tighten

Tighten the brake pedal arm to bracket nut to 18 N·m (13 lb-ft).

4. Install the lock on the brake pedal lever.

5. Install the brake light switch. See procedure "Brake light switch" in this section.

5. Install the brake light switch. See procedure «Brake light switch» in this section.


6. Connect the brake light switch with the connector.

7. Install the trim panel. See section 9E, "Instruments/Driver Information System".
