Fig. 7.2. Shock absorber strut parts: 1 - Upper mount nut cap; 2 - shock absorber strut upper mounting nut; 3 - thrust washer; 4 - upper support of the rack; 5 - shock absorber rod nut; 6 - upper support cup; 7 - protective cover; 8 - compression stroke buffer; 9 - shock absorber; 10 - lower spring gasket; 11 - spring
You will need; 24 mm keys, TORX T50 and a spring compressor.

1. Remove the shock absorber strut from the vehicle (see "Removal and installation of shock absorbers of the front suspension strut").

2. Install the spring compressor and compress the spring.

3. Unscrew the rod nut, holding the rod from turning with a second key...

4. ...and remove the nut

5. Remove the upper support...

6. ...the upper support cup...

7. ...spring with protective cover.

8. ...compression buffer...
Note: Replace springs in pairs only (right and left at the same time).

9. ...and the lower spring cup gasket.
10. Inspect the strut parts. If cracks, deformations or damage are found on the strut body or the lower spring cup, replace the strut. Welding work on the strut is prohibited.

11. Install the shock absorber vertically and lower and raise the shock absorber rod several times until it stops. Make sure that the rod moves without any dips, jams or knocks. Otherwise, replace the shock absorber. In addition, replace the shock absorber if fluid leaks are detected (slight fogging on the upper part of the case is allowed) and if the threads at the top of the rod are damaged.
Warning: Replace shock absorbers in pairs only (right and left at the same time).
12. Replace the compression stroke buffer if it is damaged.
13. Replace the upper support in case of severe deformation or local bulging of the rubber mass.
14. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Note: When installing the spring, make sure that the end of the lower coil rests against the special protrusion of the lower spring cup.
The upper strut mount nut should be finally tightened with the vehicle on the ground to the torque specified in appendix 1.
Recommendation: After repairing the front suspension shock absorber, check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles (see "Checking and adjusting wheel alignment angles"). Use the services of workshops that have special equipment.
