The sensor check is shown in the section Troubleshooting.
When you unscrew the sensor, fluid will leak from the cooling system, so drain the coolant from the engine (see Replacing the coolant).
With the ignition off…
…we press the lock of the engine control system wiring harness connector…
…and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the sensor.
Using a 19 mm open-end wrench, unscrew the sensor and remove it.
The connection between the sensor and the cylinder head is sealed with a copper washer.
If damaged, replace the washer with a new one.
We install the coolant temperature sensor in the reverse order.
We fill the engine with coolant.
