Windscreen wiper — troubleshooting (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

Depending on the nature of the windshield wiper malfunction, the sequence of checks and the range of elements to be checked vary. Therefore, the troubleshooting sequence is given for the most typical cases of windshield wiper malfunctions, from which you can select your case.

To complete the work you will need a multimeter.

Front or rear wiper not working

1. Check the condition of the front or rear wiper fuses and replace the fuse if necessary. The front wiper fuse Ef6 (30 A) and the rear wiper fuse Ef15 (20 A) are located in the engine compartment fuse and relay box.

2. Turn on the ignition and check the operation of the windshield wiper. If the fuse blows again, there is a short circuit in the wiring or gear motor, which must be found and eliminated according to the diagram described in the "Electrical Equipment" section.

3. If the fuses are OK, check the Er4 and Er5 relays in the engine compartment fuse and relay box. We replace the faulty relay.

4. If the chain is in good condition, the gear motor or right steering column switch is most likely faulty (to check it, you need special diagnostic equipment, contact a specialized service station).

All speeds and modes work, but the brushes stop spontaneously in different positions

1. The motor-reducer may be faulty. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the windshield wiper motor-reducer. We check the connector for oxides and, if necessary, clean it with a special electrical contact cleaner. If the fault persists, it is necessary to replace the gear motor.

One of the front wiper modes does not work

1. Check the electrical circuit from the fuse box to the windshield wiper motor-reducer according to the diagram described in the section "Electrical equipment"

2. If the circuit is in good condition, the front wiper motor or the right steering column switch is most likely faulty (to check it, you need special diagnostic equipment, contact a specialized service station).
