Windshield wiper (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

            0

The cars are equipped with a windshield wiper consisting of a gear motor, a trapezoid and two levers (leads) with brushes. The windshield wiper motor-reducer assembly with the trapezoid is installed under the ventilation grille on the left side. Windscreen wiper blades are consumables and must be replaced at the first sign of poor windscreen cleaning.

In addition to the front windshield wiper, the car is equipped with a rear window wiper on the trunk door, consisting of a gear motor and one lever with a brush. The rear wiper motor-reducer is located in the inner cavity of the door under the trim.

Checking the technical condition

Windscreen wipers play an important role in ensuring road safety. A sudden failure of the windshield wiper can cause a lot of trouble and even create an emergency situation. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically check the technical condition of the windshield wipers and promptly eliminate faults.

Recommendation. It is advisable to combine the inspection with a check of the technical condition of the windshield washers.

We carry out the work in the following order:

1. Sequentially turn on the various operating modes of the front windshield wiper (it is better to wet the glass with water first, at least using the standard windshield washer):
  • in intermittent mode, the brushes make one stroke every few seconds;
  • at the first speed the brushes move continuously without pauses;
  • at the second speed the brushes move constantly, but faster, check at the first speed;
  • when the windshield washer is turned on, the wipers make several strokes.

2. Turn on the rear window wiper:
  • in intermittent mode the brush makes one stroke every few seconds;
  • when you turn on the windshield washer, the brush makes several strokes.

Note: The faults that may be detected during the above checks are caused by a breakdown of the windscreen wiper electrical equipment. The fault diagnostic algorithm is given below in the section "Troubleshooting".

3. When moving on the glass, the brushes should not grind or vibrate, leaving uncleaned areas in the working area. If such malfunctions occur, the wiper blades must be replaced.

4. Raise the arms of all windshield wipers one by one. They must make an effort (but not excessive and without jamming) rise and reliably, with a "spring effect", press against the glass. If the arm sticks and does not press against the glass under the action of the spring, the arm of the corresponding front or rear wiper must be replaced.
