When the air conditioner is running, moisture from the air condenses in the evaporator, and in dampness, mold spores and other dangerous microbes easily multiply. All this can cause respiratory diseases in humans. Especially many microorganisms accumulate on the damp surfaces of the evaporator if a cabin filter is not installed. To reduce health risks, it is recommended to clean the evaporator once a year.
To complete the job, you will need a product for cleaning car air conditioners with an extension hose and a compressor.
Warning! To avoid damaging the radiator, do not apply air pressure higher than 3-4 bar when performing the following operation.
1. Blow out the cooling system radiator and condenser from the engine compartment side with compressed air from a compressor.
2. Through the radiator grilles and bumpers, we wash the condenser from the outside with water under minimal pressure so as not to damage its honeycombs.
3. Blow the condenser again with compressed air.
Recommendation. This procedure gives a quick effect only if performed regularly. In some cases, it is necessary to repeat the procedure several times, especially if the condenser has not been cleaned for a long time. To make work easier, you can remove the front bumper. If the condenser is very dirty (when it is, for example, clogged with hardened dirt) you can remove the cooling system radiator. It is permissible to wash dirt out of the condenser cells with a soft paint brush.
4. Remove the air conditioning filter. Shake the can of air conditioner cleaning solution vigorously and, holding the can vertically, treat the evaporator with foam through the hole in the air conditioning unit housing.
5. Wait 10-15 minutes.
Warning! There should be no people or pets in the vehicle while performing the following operation.
6. Start the engine.
7. Turn on the air conditioning system, set the maximum speed of rotation of the air conditioning system electric fan and close all the windows.
8. Leave the car and close all doors for 10 minutes.
9. After 10 minutes, turn off the engine and ventilate the interior.
