Note: before replacing the converter yourself, consult your representative office regarding the warranty provided for the catalyst as an element of the toxicity reduction system.
1. Catalytic converter (neutralizer) is a device included in the exhaust system. The neutralizer is designed to reduce harmful impurities in vehicle exhaust gases. This design uses a three-channel catalyst, the filler of which contains platinum and rhodium. The presence of these chemical elements causes a decrease in the content of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust (NOJ, unburned hydrocarbons (NS) and carbon monoxide (CO).
2. Equipment for diagnosing a catalyst is complex and expensive. If there is a problem with the catalytic converter, you should take the car to a company station for research and necessary replacement.

Note: For more information, see Chapter 4, Exhaust System Maintenance.
3. Raise the vehicle and install vertical supports.
4. Unscrew the bolts and disconnect the catalytic converter receiving pipe from the exhaust manifold.
5. Unscrew the bolts of the flange connection between the catalyst and the exhaust pipe, then disconnect and support the pipe.
6. Remove the catalyst along with the exhaust pipe.
7. Clean the flanges from carbon deposits.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
