Parking brake lever (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Release the parking brake lever.

2. Remove the parking brake/shift lever console cover. See section 9G, "Interior Trim".

3. Measure the length of the thread from the end of the rod to the nut.

4. Remove the parking brake adjusting nut from the parking brake lever rod eye bolt.

5. Raise and secure the vehicle.

6. Disconnect the ends of the parking brake cable from the parking brake cable equalizer.

6. Disconnect the ends of the parking brake cable from the parking brake cable equalizer.


7. Remove the bolts securing the parking brake lever assembly to the body panel.

8. Remove the parking brake switch from the parking brake lever assembly.

9. Remove the parking brake lever.

Note: If the parking brake switch indicator lamp on the instrument panel does not light when the parking brake is applied and the ignition switch is in the ON position, it must be replaced.

Installation procedure



1. Install the parking brake indicator light switch to the parking brake lever assembly.

2. Secure the parking brake lever assembly to the body panel using bolts.



Tighten

Tighten the parking brake lever assembly mounting bolts to 23 N·m (17 ft·lbs).

3. Install the parking brake cable ends onto the parking brake cable equalizer.

4. Install the parking brake adjusting nut onto the lever rod eye bolt and adjust the nut to the size it had before removal. See "Adjusting the Parking Brake - Rear Disc Brakes" in this section.

5. Install the parking brake console and gear shift lever cover. See section 9G, "Interior Trim".
