Removal procedure
1. Release the parking brake lever.
2. Remove the parking brake/shift lever cover. See section 9G, "Interior trim".
3. Measure the thread length from the end of the rod to the nut.
4. Remove the parking brake adjusting nut from the parking brake lever link bolt.
5. Raise and secure the vehicle.
6. Disconnect the parking brake cable ends from the parking brake cable equalizer.
7. Remove the parking brake lever assembly bolts from the body panel.
8. Remove the parking brake switch from the parking brake lever assembly.
9. Remove the parking brake lever.
Note: If the parking brake switch indicator light on the instrument panel does not illuminate when the parking brake is applied and the ignition switch is in the ON position, it should be replaced.
Installation procedure
1. Install the parking brake indicator switch to the parking brake lever assembly.
2. Attach the parking brake lever assembly to the body panel with bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the parking brake lever assembly bolts to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
3. Install the parking brake cable ends on the parking brake cable equalizer.
4. Install the parking brake adjusting nut onto the lever linkage eye bolt and adjust the nut position to the size it was before removal. See «Parking brake adjustment - rear disc brakes» in this section.
5. Install the parking brake console and shift lever cover. See section 9G, "Interior trim".
