Replacing the battery
Note: Failure to follow the instructions in this section may temporarily disable the automatic engine stop and start system. Only batteries that allow the fuse box to be placed above the battery may be used. On vehicles equipped with an automatic engine stop and start system to replace AGM batteries (Absorbent Glass Mat) it is necessary to use only the same AGM batteries. The AGM battery has a special designation on the case. It is recommended to use branded batteries from GM.
Note: Installing a third party AGM battery (other than the original GM battery) may cause deterioration in the operation of the automatic engine stop and start system. It is recommended that the battery be replaced at an authorized service station.
The car battery does not require maintenance.
Batteries must not be disposed of with normal household waste. They must be taken to special collection points for disposal.
If the vehicle is not used for more than 4 weeks, the battery may need to be recharged. Remove the clamp from the negative terminal of the vehicle battery.
Before you begin connecting or disconnecting the battery terminals, make sure the ignition is off.

The signs have the following meaning:
- Sparks, open flames and smoking are prohibited.
- Always use eye protection. Explosive gases can cause blindness or injury.
- Keep the battery out of reach of children.
- The battery contains sulfuric acid, which can cause blindness or severe chemical burns.

- Explosive gases may be present near the battery.
Warning: The battery may contain flammable gases; to avoid fire or flare-up, do not bring smoldering materials near the battery.
A battery explosion can cause damage to your vehicle and serious injury or even death. Avoid skin contact with battery electrolyte as it contains sulfuric acid, which is extremely corrosive and poisonous.
If electrolyte comes into contact with your skin, rinse with water and seek medical attention immediately.
Keep batteries out of reach of children as they contain sulfuric acid and gases.
Avoid contact of battery electrolyte with skin, eyes, clothing or paintwork.
Do not open or tilt the battery.
