The seal is changed if there are traces of engine oil under the camshaft pulley. If an oil leak is detected through the camshaft seal, we also recommend replacing the timing belt, since oil that gets on the belt and pulleys will lead to rapid failure of the belt.
Remove the timing belt (see Checking the condition and replacing the timing belt).
We show the replacement of the exhaust camshaft oil seal. We change the intake camshaft oil seal in the same way. For clarity, we show the replacement of the oil seal on a dismantled engine.
When unscrewing the camshaft pulley mounting bolt, it is necessary to hold the shaft from turning. This operation can be performed in two ways. In the first method, remove the cylinder head cover (see Replacing the cylinder head cover gasket).

Using a 17 mm open-end wrench or head, loosen the camshaft pulley mounting bolt, holding the shaft from turning by the hexagonal protrusion with a 24 mm wrench.
With the second method, we do not remove the cylinder head cover.
We put a 17 mm open-end wrench on the head of the camshaft pulley mounting bolt and insert a powerful screwdriver through the hole in the pulley.

Leaning on the pulley spoke with the blade of a screwdriver, turn the key counterclockwise with the screwdriver rod. The pulley mounting bolt will unscrew. Pulley (and camshaft) they should not rotate.

After unscrewing the bolt, remove the pulley.

Using a thin slotted screwdriver, pry the oil seal out of the cylinder head seat.
After applying a thin layer of engine oil to the working edge of the new oil seal, place the oil seal on the camshaft nose.

We press in the seal using a mandrel - a piece of pipe or a tool head of a suitable size.
Before installing a new belt, you need to thoroughly wipe off any oil from all drive pulleys with a rag soaked in gasoline.
We install the camshaft pulley so that the pin on the toe of the camshaft enters the hole in the pulley.
We carry out subsequent assembly in the reverse order.
We adjust the tension of the timing belt (see Checking the condition and replacing the timing belt).
