... and take out the oil level indicator (probe).
Wipe the pointer with a clean rag.
We insert the level indicator into the guide tube until it stops.
Again we take out the pointer and by the edge of the oil film on it we determine the oil level in the engine crankcase.
The edge of the oil film must be between the MIN and MAX marks on the oil level indicator.
At the same time, we make sure that there are no particles of dirt and impurities in the oil on the dipstick.
If necessary, add oil to the crankcase (the amount of oil that needs to be added to raise its level from the MIN·mark to the MAX mark of the pointer is 1.0 l, as a reminder, this figure is printed on the dipstick between the marks). We wait at least three minutes so that the topped-up portion of oil has time to drain into the sump, and check the level again. Set the level indicator in place.
When adding oil, do not exceed the maximum allowable level. Otherwise, oil through the crankcase ventilation system will enter the combustion chambers of the cylinders, and the combustion products of the oil can damage the catalytic converter.
In addition, an excess amount of oil in the engine lubrication system leads to an increase in oil consumption for waste, clogging of spark plugs and increased formation of carbon deposits on their electrodes. All this negatively affects the operation of the engine and reduces its resource.
Top up the engine only with the oil that was filled into the lubrication system during the last oil change.
