Changing engine oil and oil filter (Chevrolet Lanos T150)

            0

We change the engine oil in accordance with the maintenance regulations every 10 thousand km of run. We change it on a non-running engine, preferably immediately after the trip, while the oil has not cooled down.

We unscrew the oil filler cap.

From underneath the car, we clean the oil pan from dirt around the drain plug.

Using a socket wrench or a 17 mm head, loosen the drain plug.

Place a wide container for used oil with a capacity of at least 4 liters under the hole…

…and unscrewing the plug manually, we drain the oil.

Be careful, the oil is hot.

Drain the oil for at least 10 minutes.

We check the condition of the sealing copper washer of the plug.

We check the condition of the sealing copper washer of the plug.

If the washer is heavily deformed or worn out, replace it. Wipe the plug, screw it in and tighten it. Remove oil leaks from the engine oil pan.

Place a container under the oil filter. Unscrew it (counterclockwise) oil filter. If this cannot be done manually…

…we loosen the filter tightening with a puller…

If there is no puller, punch the filter housing with a screwdriver (closer to the bottom, so as not to damage the engine nipple) and unscrew the filter using a screwdriver as a lever.

We remove the oil filter.

We clean the filter seat on the cylinder block from dirt and oil leaks.

Apply a thin layer of motor oil to the filter sealing ring.

We tighten the oil filter by hand until the sealing ring touches the cylinder block. Then we turn the filter another 3/4 turn to seal the connection.

Pour 3.75 liters of oil into the engine through the oil filler neck.

We tighten the oil filler cap clockwise.

We start the engine for 1–2 minutes.

We make sure that the low fuel indicator in the instrument cluster has gone out (emergency) there is no oil pressure in the engine and no leaks from under the plug and filter. If necessary, tighten the oil filter and drain plug.

We stop the engine after a few minutes (so that the oil flows into the oil pan) we check the oil level and bring it up to normal.
