Changing engine oil and oil filter (Chevrolet Tahoe 1)

1. The oil filter is changed together with the engine oil.


2. To provide access to the bottom of the car, it must be placed on stands, or driven into a pit or overpass.

3. The car must be in a horizontal position, the engine must be warmed up.

4. Unscrew the oil filler cap.

5. Place a tray underneath, clean and unscrew the drain plug (see photo). Drain the oil.

6. Clean and tighten the drain plug.

7. Place a container under the oil filter.

8. Using a special key, release the oil filter, then unscrew it by hand (see photo). Immediately tilt the filter and drain the oil into a container.

9. Carefully wipe the area where the filter is located on the engine with a clean cloth.

10. Lightly lubricate the new filter's O-ring with engine oil (see photo) and screw the filter back into place. Tighten the filter by hand.

11. First about 4 liters of oil, then wait a few minutes for all the oil to drain into the pan. Continue adding oil in small portions until the "ADD" mark on the dipstick is reached.

12. Start the engine and, while the engine is running, check the tightness of the sump plug and filter by monitoring these areas for several minutes. If a leak is detected, tighten the plug or filter slightly.

13. Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the pan. Check the oil level again. After filling all channels and the filter, the oil level may drop. Top up the oil to the normal level.
