Throttle cable (Chevrolet Lumina 1)

Removal



1. Loosen the screws and release the clip holding the lower instrument panel trim and partially lower the trim.

2. Disconnect the cable from the accelerator pedal (see illustration).

3. Press the tabs of the accelerator cable housing and push the cable through the heat-insulating wall into the engine compartment.

4. Remove the air filter (see section 8).

5. Disconnect the lock and accelerator cable.

6. Disconnect the throttle lever and accelerator cable fasteners and separate the cable from the throttle body lever (see illustration).

7. Squeeze the tabs holding the accelerator cable and pass the cable through the bracket.

8. Install the throttle cable in reverse order.

Note: To prevent possible damage, hoses, wires, etc. should not be laid closer than 5 cm from moving parts unless they are properly secured.


9. Press the accelerator pedal and check if it moves freely when the throttle valve is fully opened and closed.

10. Apply a bead of sealant around the accelerator cable housing on the heat-insulating wall on the engine compartment side.

11. Using a small screwdriver, disconnect the throttle cable retaining ring from the cable end (see illustration).

12. Remove the spring clip from the housing bracket and extend the cable.

13. Disconnect the cable inside the passenger compartment and pull it out.

14. The cable is installed in the reverse order.
