Car theft (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

            0

Here is how the Encyclopedia of Law defines the term "carjacking": "Carjacking is a crime consisting of the temporary seizure of a car or other vehicle without the intent to steal it. In the event of a theft, no property is seized (vehicle) and its conversion to one's own benefit or that of third parties. The culprit usually uses the car for a while and then either returns it to the parking lot or leaves it somewhere else."

It is precisely this - the absence of the purpose of appropriating the car - that distinguishes carjacking from theft or robbery.

Measures to prevent car theft

When driving, lock the doors to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the vehicle. Also, when entering and exiting the vehicle, pay attention to suspicious persons nearby.

Have your vehicle serviced only at trusted service stations, and when servicing your vehicle, switch electronic security devices to service mode whenever possible.

One of the common ways to steal a car is by stealing the keys. Be especially careful in crowded places. Place your keys in the inside pockets of your clothing.

When parking your car for a long time, leave it in a guarded parking lot, in a garage, or, as a last resort, in a well-lit area.

Try to ensure that as few people as possible know about the anti-theft devices installed in your car and where the car is parked.

When purchasing a car, ask the seller for all available sets of keys. If the alarm has a code unlock function (can be entered in various ways), reprogram it so that the code is known only to you.

When buying a car, do not skimp on anti-theft devices. The best effect is achieved by combining electronic and mechanical anti-theft devices.

Mechanical anti-theft devices include various mechanical blockers (for example, steering shaft rotation lock, gearshift lever lock, pedal assembly lock). These funds are either stationary (when they are unlocked, part of the device remains mounted in the vehicle's components), and completely removable (for example, a pedal lock).

Electronic means include electronic security devices - alarms that have one or more sensors (eg shock sensor, microwave sensor). In addition, these devices may have electronic locks (immobilizers), which provide for the opening of one or more electrical circuits (for example, the starter circuit, the fuel pump circuit).

Electronic vehicle theft monitoring systems have become popular recently. These systems are not cheap, but they help track a vehicle via satellite communications. In addition, the system can also be activated if there is unauthorized entry into the vehicle while you are away from it.
