Operation of the car in winter (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

            0

When operating your vehicle in winter, follow the rules below:
  • engine coolant must meet low temperature operating requirements;
  • check the electrolyte level and the state of charge of the battery. At low temperatures, the density of the electrolyte decreases, making it difficult to start the engine;
  • the viscosity of the engine oil must meet the requirements for operation at low temperatures;
  • fill the windshield washer reservoir with only non-freezing fluid;
  • install winter tires of the prescribed type and size, if using tire chains, install them only on the front wheels of the vehicle in accordance with the instructions provided;
  • when driving on deep snow or ice, maintain a constant low speed and avoid abrupt steering and brake actions;
  • check the condition of the front wheel arches periodically - accumulated snow and ice can significantly affect the handling of the car;
  • when stopped or parked, do not use the parking brake when there is a possibility that snow or water accumulated around the parking brake mechanism could freeze and prevent it from disengaging. Set the automatic transmission mode selector (on cars with automatic transmission) to position P, and the gear shift lever (on cars with manual transmission) in first gear, if necessary, place wheel chocks under the wheels.

To be able to remove snow from your car in winter, it is advisable to purchase a special brush. These brushes are longer and narrower than car wash brushes and can also be equipped with a scraper to remove ice from the glass.

The scraper can be built into the brush handle.

Some brush designs allow the scraper to be removed and used separately if necessary.

Warning! The scraper is used to quickly clear ice from the car's windows before driving while the car is warming up. To avoid damaging the paintwork of the vehicle, do not attempt to remove ice from it.

During winter operation of the car, it is better for the windshield wipers to be frameless. Frame brushes can also be replaced with special winter brushes, in which the frame is located inside the cover. In a conventional brush, snow and ice get stuck in the frame arms and thus impair their mobility, as a result the brush adheres worse to the glass and, accordingly, cleans it worse.
