1. This procedure should be performed immediately after driving the vehicle, while the differential oil is warm enough to drain completely.
2. Raise the vehicle and place supports underneath it.
3. Remove the transfer case filler plug (see illustration 21.1).
4. Remove the drain plug located at the bottom and completely drain the oil from the transfer case.
5. After the oil has drained, clean and reinstall the drain plug. Tighten it to the specified torque, the value of which is given in the specifications of this chapter.
6. Fill the transfer case with the required type of oil until the level rises to the bottom edge of the filler hole.
7. Install the filler plug and tighten it to the required torque, the value of which is given in specifications this chapter.
8. Take the vehicle for a short drive and recheck the transfer case oil level. Sometimes a slight level increase is required.
