Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) — Replacement (Chevrolet Trailblazer 1)

1. The camshaft position sensor (CPS) is similar in principle to the crankshaft position sensor (CPS), but the CPS sensor generates six pulses per revolution of the exhaust camshaft. When comparing the pulses from the SKR and SMR sensors in the RCM, the fuel injection phases in each cylinder are determined.

Replacement

2. Disconnect the electrical connector of the CMP sensor (see illustration).



3. Unscrew the mounting bolt and remove the sensor from the cylinder head (see illustration).



4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
