Removal procedure
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the audio system and air conditioning switch.
3. Remove the shift lever assembly or shift housing. Depending on the transmission type, See Section 5A, AISIN - 51LE - Automatic Transmission with Final Drive Assembly or Section 5B, Five-speed manual transmission with final drive assembly.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the body control module (BCM).

Installation procedure
1. Install the body control module (BCM).
2. Connect the electrical connectors.
3. Install the shift lever assembly or shift housing. Depending on the transmission type, See Section 5A, AISIN - 51LE - Automatic Transmission with Final Drive Assembly or Section 5B, Five-speed manual transmission with final drive assembly.
4. Install the audio system and air conditioning switch.
5. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
Body Control Module (BCM) Programming
The following procedures are designed to properly program the BCM during BCM related maintenance. Please read the procedures carefully and completely before proceeding.
Important: The vehicle's engine will not start and many other functions may not operate normally if the BCM is not configured correctly after replacement. The following steps must be followed.

On the diagnostic tool, go to Body → Body Controller → Programming → SDM ID, then follow the instructions on the screen.
