Removal procedure
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the audio system and the air conditioner switch.
3. Remove the lever assembly or shift housing. Depending on the type of gearbox, see Section 5A, AISIN - 51LE - Automatic Transaxle with Final Drive Assembly or Section 5B, Five-Speed Manual Transaxle with Final Drive Assembly.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors.
5. Remove body controller (BCM).
Installation procedure
1. Install Body Controller (BCM).
2. Attach electrical connectors.
3. Install the lever assembly or shift housing. Depending on the type of gearbox, see Section 5A, AISIN - 51LE - Automatic Transaxle with Final Drive Assembly or Section 5B, Five-Speed Manual Transaxle with Final Drive Assembly.
4. Install the audio system and the air conditioner switch.
5. Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
Body controller programming (BCM)
The following procedures are for correct programming of the BCM during maintenance related to the BCM. Before starting work, it is necessary to carefully and completely read the description of the procedures.
Important: The vehicle's engine will not start and many other functions may not work properly if the BCM is not set up correctly after replacement. You need to do the following.

BCM Programming
Select the service programming system from the main menu, then follow the instructions on the screen.
Determining the Airbag ID
On the scan tool, navigate to Body > Body Controller > Programming > SDM ID, then follow the instructions on the screen.
