Gear shift lever housing (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the console. See Section 9G, Interior Trim.

3. Disconnect the shift control cables from the shift lever housing. See "Shift mechanism drive cable" in this section.

4. Remove the nuts from the gear shift lever housing.



5. Remove the gear shift lever housing.

Installation procedure

1. Install the gear shift lever housing.

2. Install the nuts on the gear shift lever housing.

Tighten

Tighten the gearshift lever housing mounting bolts to 8 Nm (71 lbs.in).

3. Connect the gear shift cables to the gear shift lever housing and adjust the cable. See "Shift mechanism drive cable" in this section.



4. Reinstall the console. See Section 9G, Interior Trim.

5. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
