Changing the working fluid of the gearbox (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Caution! The transmission fluid is hot. Care should be taken to avoid accidents when draining the transmission fluid from the transmission assembly.


1. Raise the vehicle and place it on the supports provided for this purpose.

2. Unscrew the drain plug of the gearbox with the final drive assembly and allow the fluid to drain completely.

3. Remove the plug from the fluid level check hole.

4. Install a new transmission drain plug with the final drive assembly.

Tighten

Tighten the gearbox drain plug to 6 N·m (53 lbs.in) + 45°~180°.

5. Add SAE75W90 transmission fluid until it begins to leak out of the fluid level check plug.

6. Install a new fluid level check plug.

Tighten

Tighten the fluid level check plug to 6 N·m (53 lbs.in) + 45°~180°.

7. Lower the vehicle and ensure proper operation.
