Caution: If the automatic transmission fluid is at operating temperature, take precautions to prevent burns from the fluid.
Caution: Use only DEXRON VI fluid. Mixing with another type of fluid may cause transmission damage.
1. Jack up the vehicle and place safety stands under the frame.
2. Place a container under the automatic transmission pan to collect the fluid.
Replacement of working fluid and automatic transmission filter. 1 - oil pan mounting bolts, 2 - working fluid pan, 3 - gasket, 4 - working fluid filter, 5 - sealing ring.
3. Unscrew the 18 bolts (1) securing the working fluid pan.
4. Carefully knock down the pan (2) with a rubber mallet, tilt it and drain the working fluid.

5. Remove the rubber gasket (3) from the tray.
6. Remove the filter (4).
Note: Pull the filter straight out, without distorting it. Do not bend or twist it.
7. Remove the filter O-ring (5) using a screwdriver or pliers.
8. Check the color of the liquid.
- a) The automatic transmission working fluid must be red or dark brown in color.
- b) If the liquid is very dark or black in color and has a burnt smell, check it for contamination with metal particles (a small amount of particles is not a malfunction). If there are a lot of particles, flush the cooler and cooler tubes of the working fluid and perform a major overhaul of the transmission. If there are no faults in the transmission, replace the filter of the working fluid, cooler and flush the cooler tubes.
- c) If the working fluid is cloudy, "milky" or looks dirty, this indicates the presence of engine coolant or water in the automatic transmission.
9. Lubricate the new seal with automatic transmission fluid and install it into the automatic transmission fluid filter.
10. Install the new filter on the valve block.
11. Install the pan and tighten the mounting bolts in the order shown in the assembly drawing "Replacing the working fluid and filter of the automatic transmission". Tightening torque 9 N·m.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Fill in new automatic transmission fluid.
