Removal procedure



1. Raise the vehicle and place it on the supports provided for this purpose.

2. Unscrew the drain plug and drain the liquid. It takes at least 5 minutes to completely drain the liquid.

3. Remove the gasket from the drain plug and discard.

Installation procedure



1. Install a new gasket on the drain plug.

2. Replace the drain plug.

Tighten the drain plug to 40 Nm (30 lbs per foot).

4. Loosen the fluid level indicator mounting bolt and remove the indicator.

Important: Always use ESSO JWS 3309 US ATF.


Important: Do not remove the anchor bolt located on the top of the transaxle to check or add fluid. Removing the bolt will dislodge the internal components and require the transaxle to be removed from the vehicle and disassembled for repair.




5. The working fluid of the gearbox should be added to the gearbox with the final drive assembly through the location of the fluid level indicator.

6. Start the engine and let the vehicle run until the transmission fluid temperature reaches 70-80°C (158-176°F).

7. Apply the parking brake.

8. Depress the brake pedal and slowly move the gear selector lever through all gear ranges from PARK (P) to LOW, holding for approximately 3 seconds in each range. Return the gear selector lever to PARK (P) with the transmission idling.

9. Pull the level sensor out again and make sure the fluid level is in the HOT range.

10. Install the liquid level indicator.
