1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface.
2. Run the vehicle until the transmission fluid temperature reaches the normal operating range.
Note: The normal temperature of the final drive assembly is 70-80°C (158-176°F)
3. The engine is running at idle. Shift manually through all ranges of the transaxle assembly and return back to PARK (PARKING). Leave the engine to run at idle.
4. Unscrew the bolt of the transmission fluid level indicator.
5. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator.
6. Wipe off all traces of transmission fluid from the gauge.
7. Insert pointer into transaxle assembly until fully seated.
Important: Checking the transmission fluid level at abnormal temperatures may give an incorrect reading. The transmission fluid expands when heated.
8. Remove the pointer and check the level and condition of the liquid on the pointer:
- Transmission fluid level at normal operating temperature (1).
- Transmission fluid level when cold (2).
9. If the fluid level is incorrect, check for the following conditions:
- Fluid below level, check for leaks and top up fluid through the location of the fluid level indicator
- Fluid above level, transaxle overfull
It is necessary to drain some of the liquid through the drain plug. Check fluid level.
Important: Always use ESSO JWS 3309 US ATF when adding fluid or changing fluid completely.
10. Install the fluid level indicator and bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the liquid level gauge bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
