Shift Control Lever Assembly (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the floor console. See Section 9G, Interior Trim.

3. Disconnect the electrical wiring connectors.

4. Remove the shift control cable retaining clip (1) and the shift control cable (2) from the shift control lever assembly.



5. Loosen the gear shift lever assembly mounting nuts and remove the gear shift control lever assembly.

Installation procedure

1. Install the gear shift lever assembly retaining nuts.

Tighten

Tighten the gearshift lever assembly mounting nuts to 8 N·m (71 lbs.in).



2. Install the cable (2) onto the shift control lever assembly and secure the cable with a new shift control cable retaining clamp (1).



3. Adjust the cable. See "Adjusting the shift control cable" in this section.

4. Connect the electrical wiring connectors.

5. Install the floor console. See Section 9G, Interior Trim.

6. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
