Removal procedure



1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. For HFV6 3.2L or 2.0S Diesel, remove the ECM bracket.

Important: The manual shift shaft of the transaxle assembly must be in the neutral (N) position before the shifter is installed.


3. Apply the parking brake and move the gear selector lever to neutral (N).

4. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) of the automatic transmission range switch and the electrical connector of the gearbox with the final drive assembly (2).

Installation procedure



1. Install the automatic transmission range selector onto the manual shift shaft lever.

2. Screw in the bolts. Tighten them ONLY by hand.

3. Install the flat washer, split lock washer and nut.

Tighten

Tighten the automatic transmission range selector nut to 7 Nm (62 lbs.in).

4. Make sure the manual shift shaft is in neutral position (N).

5. Bend the tabs of the lock washer upward to secure the nut.

6. Install J-45404 onto the manual shift shaft and rotate the transmission range switch until the neutral reference line on the switch aligns with the pointer line on J-45404.



7. Tighten the automatic transmission range selector bolts.

9. Install the automatic transmission range selector lever and nut.

11. Connect the electrical connector (1, 2).



12. For HFV6 3.2L or 2.0S Diesel, install the ECM bracket.
