Adjusting the shift control cable (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Adjustment procedure



1. Move the gear shift lever to position N (NEUTRAL).

Important: The shift control cable must be disconnected from the transmission range selector lever before it is disconnected from the control cable bracket. Otherwise, damage to the manual shift shaft may occur, requiring disassembly of the transmission assembly.


2. Disconnect the shift mechanism drive cable from the range selector lever.

3. Disconnect the shift mechanism drive cable from the control cable bracket by pressing the tabs of the control cable retaining clamp and pulling it upward. Discard the clamp.

6. Insert a screwdriver into the slot under the white tab and pull up on the white tab.

7. Install the shift control cable into the shift control cable bracket. Secure the new shift control cable retaining clip. You will hear a click when it is installed correctly.
