Withdrawal procedure
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove floor console. See Section 9G, Interior lining.
3. Apply the parking brake.
4. Move the gear lever to position N (NEUTRAL).
5. Remove fixing clamp (1) shift control cable and cable (2) from the shift control lever assembly.
Important: The shift control cable must be disconnected from the AT shift lever before it can be disconnected from the control cable bracket. Otherwise, the manual shift shaft may be damaged, requiring the transaxle to be disassembled.
6. Disconnect the shift cable from the range selector lever.
7. Disconnect the shift drive cable from the control cable bracket by depressing the tabs on the control cable retaining clamp and pulling it up. Throw out the clamp.
8. Remove the shift control cable from the front panel.
9. Remove the drive cable from the vehicle.
Installation order
1. Route the shift control cable through the cable bracket.
2. Secure the cable to the bracket with a new control cable clamp. You will hear a click when installed correctly.
3. By setting the automatic transmission range selector lever to neutral (N), install the shift control cable end connection to the ball stud on the AT shift lever. You will hear a click when the cable is properly installed.
4. Attach the shift control cable grommet by pushing the cable into the through hole in the front panel.
5. Make sure the shift lever is in neutral (N).
6. Connect the shift cable to the shift lever. Secure the cable with a new shift control cable retaining clip (1).
7. Install the shift control cable to the shift lever.
8. Adjust shift control cable. See «Shift cable adjustment» in this section.
9. Install the front console. See Section 9G, Interior lining.
10. Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
