Disassembling the gear shift shaft (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Disassembly procedure



Important: Note the orientation of the roll pin before removing it.


1. Remove the roll pin (6). Discard the roll pin.

2. Remove the roll pin (5). Discard the roll pin.

3. Remove the gear selector lever latch (3).

4. Remove the gear selector lever pin (4).

5. Remove the outer spring seat (2).

6. Remove the 5th gear/reverse pressure spring (1).

6. Remove the 5th gear/reverse pressure spring (1).


7. Remove the roll pin (2). Discard the roll pin.

8. Remove the gear selector lever (1).

9. Remove the ventilation cover (3).

10. Remove the gear shift cover (4).

10. Remove the gear shift cover (4).


11. Remove the retaining rings (1). Discard the retaining rings.



12. Remove the inner spring socket (2).

13. Remove the 1st/2nd gear pressure spring (3).

14. Remove the angle disc (4) from the gear shift rod (5).

14. Remove the angle disc (4) from the gear shift rod (5).


15. Rinse all components in a suitable solution.

16. Check all components for signs of wear or damage.
