Diagnostics of the automatic cruise control device (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

The cruise control device does not work

Check fuses F13.
Is the fuse blown?

Go to Step 2

  1. Check for short circuit and repair if necessary.
  2. Replace the blown fuse.
Is the renovation finished?

The system is normal

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Check the voltage at fuses F13.
Is the voltage equal to the specified value?
11~14V
Go to Step 5
Go to Step 4

Restore the power supply circuit to the fuse.
Is the renovation finished?
-
The system is normal
-

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch to the off position.
  3. Using a voltmeter, check the voltage at terminal 17 of connector J5 on the BCM controller.
Is the resistance equal to the specified value?
≈ 0 Ohm
Go to Step 7
Go to Step 6

Repair short to voltage in the circuit between the cruise control switch and terminal 17 on the BCM connector J5.
Is the renovation finished?
-
The system is normal
-

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch to the on position.
  3. Using a voltmeter, check the voltage at terminal 17 of the BCM controller connector J5.
Is the voltage equal to the specified value?
11~14V
Go to Step 9
Go to Step 8

Repair the open circuit between fuse F13 and terminal 17 of connector J5 of the BCM controller.
Is the renovation finished?
-
The system is normal
-
9
  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch to the on position.
  3. Check the voltage at terminals 3 and 7 of the J5 connector of the BCM controller.
Is the resistance equal to the specified value?
≈ 0 Ohm
Go to Step 12
Go to Step 10
10
Replace the cruise control switch.
Is the renovation finished?
-
The system is normal
-
