Removal procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the engine cover and engine cover bracket.
3. Remove the battery. See section 1E2, Engine Electrical Equipment - FAM II 2.4D.
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. See Section 1C1, Engine Mechanical - FAM II 2.4D.
5. Disconnect both cooling fan electrical connectors and the A/C pressure sensor connector.

6. Remove the cooling fan shroud mounting screws.
7. Remove the power steering fluid supply hose and the bracket holding the pipe and move it away from the cooling fan assembly. See section 6A, Power Steering System.

8. Lift the fan shroud upward and remove the entire cooling fan from the vehicle.
9. Remove both main and auxiliary fan blades from the fan shroud by unscrewing the nut in the center of the fan hubs.
10. Remove both fan motor retaining screws.
11. Remove both fan motors from the shroud.

Installation procedure
Warning! If the fan assembly is bent or damaged in any way, do not attempt to repair or reuse the damaged part. A bent or damaged fan must be replaced with a new one. It is very important to maintain proper balance of the fan assembly. A fan that is not properly balanced may break or fly apart during operation, creating an extreme hazard. A broken or bent fan assembly cannot be restored to proper balance.
1. Install both fan motors into the housing.
2. Secure the engine to the casing with the locking screws.
Tighten
Tighten the fan motor locking screws to 3.5 Nm (31 lbs.in).
3. Install the fan blades onto the shroud using the nuts on the fan hub.
Tighten
Tighten the fan blade lock nuts to 5.6 N·m (50 lbs.in).

4. Install the assembled cooling system fan onto the radiator.
Important: It is imperative that the tab on the bottom edge of the casing be pushed into the retaining clip on the radiator.
5. Secure the assembled cooling fan to the radiator using the mounting screws.
Tighten
Tighten the cooling fan assembly with the mounting screws to 4 N·m (35 lbs.in).

6. Connect the electrical connectors of the cooling system fan and the connector of the air conditioner pressure sensor.
7. Install the power steering fluid supply hose and the screw holding the pipe and away from the cooling fan assembly. See section 6A, Power Steering System.
8. Install the air cleaner assembly. See Section 1C1, Engine Mechanical - FAM II 2.4D.
9. Install the battery. See section 1E2, Engine Electrical Equipment - FAM II 2.4D.
10. Install the engine cover and engine cover bracket.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
