1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
Warning: Special equipment and tooling are required for diagnostics and repair of electronic passive safety systems (SRS). If they fail, contact a specialized service station. To avoid injury from unauthorized activation of pyrotechnic charges, do not disassemble system components yourself. However, when repairing the steering, electrical equipment and body, the driver's airbag module may interfere with the work. If it is necessary to remove and install it, you can do the work yourself, strictly adhering to the operating rules of the system:
- disconnect the battery before starting work. Attempting to remove the airbag without disconnecting the power supply may result in unexpected airbag deployment;
- you can proceed to the following operations to remove the airbag only after the activator capacitor has been completely discharged. To discharge the capacitor, you must wait at least ten seconds after disconnecting the wire from the negative terminal of the battery;
- disassembling the airbag module is prohibited;
- the airbag module must not fall or come into contact with water, grease or oil;
- the airbag module removed from the vehicle must be stored on a flat horizontal surface with the module facing up;
- exposure of the airbag module to temperatures above S5°C is not permitted;
- when installing the module in the steering wheel of a car, be outside the deployment zone of the airbag;
- when you first turn on the ignition after installing the airbag module in the vehicle, be outside the vehicle and turn on the ignition switch by reaching under the lower steering column cover.

2. Turn the steering wheel 180° from the straight-ahead position.

3. Using a rod of suitable diameter, press the airbag module fasteners toward the center, pulling the module toward you.
When you press the latches, the springs are activated, so hold the module during this operation.

4. Move the module away from the steering wheel hub.

5. Slide the harness connector retainer to the airbag module...

6. ...and disconnect the connector.

The airbag module retainers are pressed through these holes using a rod. For clarity, shown on a removed steering wheel.
7. Remove the airbag.

8. Loosen the bolt securing the steering wheel to the steering column...

Note: The steering wheel mounting bolt is difficult to remove because it is coated with a locking sealant.
Warning: Do not completely loosen the steering wheel mounting bolt, otherwise you may injure yourself when removing the steering wheel by hand if it suddenly comes off the steering column shaft.
Helpful Hints: You can prevent the steering wheel from turning using the locking mechanism of the ignition switch anti-theft device. To do this, remove the key from the ignition switch and turn the steering wheel until the shaft is fixed by the anti-theft device. After loosening the steering wheel mounting nut, turn off the anti-theft device by inserting the key into the ignition switch and set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position again.
9. Use sharp blows of your hands to knock the steering wheel off the shaft splines.

10. Completely unscrew the bolt and remove the steering wheel.

Note: Secure against rotation (for example, using scotch tape) airbag and horn contact ring.
11. Install the steering wheel and removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

Note: There are marks on the steering column shaft and steering wheel, when installing the steering wheel on the splines, align these marks.
Warning: When installing the module in the vehicle steering wheel, be outside the deployment area of the airbag.
When turning on the ignition for the first time after installing the airbag module in the vehicle, stand outside the vehicle and turn on the ignition switch by reaching under the lower steering column cover.
