Replacing gearbox drive seals (Chevrolet Cruze J300)

The inner CV joint seals can be replaced without removing the gearbox from the vehicle.

The procedure for replacing the inner CV joint seals of manual and automatic transmissions is the same and is shown using the example of a manual transmission.

You will need: a mounting blade, a large screwdriver, a hammer, and a mandrel.

1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or lift.

3. Remove the seal with a screwdriver.

4. Lubricate the working edge of the oil seal with transmission grease and press it in using a mandrel of a suitable diameter with the working edge inside the gearbox.

5. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

6. Check the level and top up the oil in the manual transmission if necessary (or working fluid in an automatic transmission).
