2. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.
3. On some vehicles, remove the gearbox shield.
4. Drain the oil from the transfer case.
5. Disconnect the front propeller shaft.
6. Disconnect the left suspension strut.
7. Disconnect the rear propeller shaft.
8. Disconnect all connectors from the transfer case.
9. Disconnect the transfer case engagement lever rod.
10. Remove any exhaust pipes that may interfere with removal of the transmission.
11. Jack up the transmission using a wooden block. When removing the transfer case, the transmission must be suspended.
12. Raise the transfer case with a jack; it is recommended to use a special jack-trolley on which the case is secured with chains.
13. Loosen the bolts securing the box to the transmission housing (see photo).

14. Make sure all necessary parts are disconnected and move the box back, maintaining a horizontal position. After the drive shaft comes out, lower the box and remove it from under the car.
15. Installation is performed in the reverse order. Tighten the gearbox mounting bolts to the specified torque.
