Attention! The cooling fan is switched on by a temperature sensor and can be switched on at any time, regardless of whether the engine is running or not. Keep your hands, tools and clothing away from the fan.
Note: After performing any electrical tests on the blower motor circuit, ensure that the service motor light ("Service Engine Soon"), does not light. If it lights up, erase all stored error and malfunction codes by following the procedure described in chapter 6, Section 2.
1. To check the fan motor, disconnect the electrical connector on the motor and use the auxiliary wires with a fuse to connect the fan directly to the battery (see illustration). If the fan does not work, replace the electric motor (see below paragraph "Replacing the fan motor" in this section).
4.1 The fan motor can be tested by connecting the wires from the battery directly to the terminals of the motor
2. If the electric motor runs, the fault may be in the coolant temperature sensor, the relay, the ECM or PCM, or the wiring connecting these units. Check all wires and connectors carefully.
3. If the fan blade is bent or damaged, it should be replaced with a new one. Do not attempt to repair or reuse a damaged fan blade as this will adversely affect the fan's balance.
