Attention! The cooling fan is switched on by a temperature sensor and can be switched on at any time, regardless of whether the engine is running or not. Keep your hands, tools and clothing away from the fan.
Note. After performing any electrical checks on the fan motor circuit, verify that the motor service indicator light is on ("Service Engine Soon"), does not burn. If it lights up, clear all stored error and trouble codes by following the procedure described in chapter 6, section 2.
1. To test the fan motor, disconnect the electrical connector on the motor and use the fused auxiliary wires to connect the fan directly to the battery (see illustration). If the fan does not work, replace the motor (see further paragraph "Fan motor replacement" in this section).
4.1. The fan motor can be tested by connecting the wires from the battery directly to the motor terminals
2. If the motor is running, the fault may be in the engine coolant temperature sensor, the relay, the ECM or PCM, or the wiring connecting the two. Carefully check all wires and connectors.
3. If the fan blade is bent or damaged, it should be replaced with a new one. Do not attempt to repair or reuse a damaged fan blade as this will adversely affect its balance.
