Note: Three different modifications of CS type generators are installed on cars. All these units are classified as non-repairable. Therefore, if the generator fails, contact a specialized workshop and replace it with a refurbished one or purchase a new one from an auto parts store.
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the poly V-belt (see chapter 1, section 21).
3. On vehicles with a 3.1L engine, remove the air filter housing (see chapter 4, section 8).
4. Remove the electrical connector from the rear of the generator. The wire coming from the battery is also attached at the back. After unscrewing the nut, remove the wire.
5. Unscrew the front generator mounting bolt (see illustration).

6. After unscrewing the rear mounting bolt, remove the generator brace, if present (see illustration).

7. Loosen the clamps securing all wire harnesses and remove the generator from the vehicle.
8. The generator is installed in the reverse order.
