Depending on the configuration, two types of electric windows can be installed on the car: with conventional or pulse control. In a window lift with a conventional control, the signal to raise or lower the glass is performed by applying voltage to the terminals of the motor-reducer. The change in the direction of movement of the glass is set by changing the polarity of the power supply. To lower the window, press and hold the corresponding electric window control button down; to raise the window, pull it up and hold it. The glass will move until the key is released or until it reaches its extreme position.
The pulse-controlled window lifter is supplied with voltage constantly, and commands to raise or lower the window are carried out by applying voltage to the corresponding terminal. To turn on the mode, briefly pull out or press the key until it stops (to the second position). In this case, the glass will automatically lower or rise to the extreme position or until the key is pressed again.
If the vehicle's battery has been disconnected or the power window has been disconnected, the auto mode function is disabled and must be reprogrammed. To program, turn on the ignition and pull up the driver's door electric window control button, holding it in this position for 2-3 seconds, then repeat the operation on each door of the car. The function will be available immediately after turning the ignition off and on again.
Note: After the ignition is turned off, the power windows will operate for 10 minutes or until the driver's door is opened.
Rear doors with mechanical windows are equipped with window lift handles. If the mechanical window lift is not working, it will most likely need to be replaced. During operation, wear of the drive cables and deformation of the glass guides are possible. In this case, the window regulator must be replaced. In rare cases, a malfunction may occur in the gear motor, which also needs to be replaced.
The failure of electric windows may be associated not only with mechanical faults in the electric drive, but also with a fault in their electrical circuits. Some signs can help determine the cause of the electric window malfunction.
A number of failures in the operation of electric windows can be caused by a malfunction of the control unit in the driver's door. The unit is not repairable, so in case of failure it is replaced as a whole.
