When replacing lamps, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the specified lamp type and power (see below). If the situation with the lamp type is simple: a lamp of a different type (with a base of a different shape) You most likely just won't install it, but the situation with power is more complicated. The power of the lamp affects the brightness of its glow and the degree of heating. For example, on any car the side light sections burn dimmer than the brake light sections, this is achieved by using lamps of different power. This is done for a reason: the brake light should stand out against the background of the side lights. Therefore, by installing a brake light bulb of lower power, you will make the brake light much less noticeable, which may lead to an emergency situation. Installing a higher power side light bulb is worse. In addition to the already noted danger, this leads to the flashlight melting (since the heat dissipation of a more powerful lamp is much higher), and will also irritate drivers of vehicles driving behind with constantly bright lights. Installing higher power halogen lamps also poses a risk of melting the headlight unit. It is a common belief that higher power lamps provide better lighting. Believe me, this is absolutely not true.
Following the specified rules and replacement algorithm (see relevant sections) You will cope with the task without any problems.
Warning! The Russian Federation traffic regulations prohibit the installation of gas-discharge (xenon) lamps in outdoor lighting fixtures not intended for them.
