For long-term and trouble-free operation of a car, like any mechanism, timely maintenance is required. It is customary to divide maintenance into daily (pre-departure vehicle maintenance), periodic (maintenance depending on the vehicle mileage) and seasonal (when preparing a car for operation in winter or summer).
Periodic maintenance is performed in accordance with the maintenance plan. All work and the frequency of its implementation are regulated by the manufacturer. Only if the vehicle is serviced in a timely manner at authorized service stations will the manufacturer undertake to fulfill its warranty obligations. During maintenance, consumables whose service life has expired are replaced (oils, brake and coolant fluids, as well as drive belts and spark plugs). The general technical condition of the vehicle must be checked, paying special attention to parts that affect safety and are subject to intensive wear, as well as units and assemblies that experience increased loads during operation. Check and, if necessary, replace brake discs, brake pads and clutch discs, which are also consumables, so the warranty does not cover them.
Thanks to modern technologies and materials, cars produced today are quite reliable, which has allowed car manufacturers to free drivers from the need to perform daily maintenance. However, given that, in accordance with current legislation, responsibility for the technical condition of the vehicle lies with its owner, it is advisable not to limit yourself to just periodic maintenance. Daily maintenance performed before the trip will allow you to detect a malfunction in time and promptly fix it, thereby avoiding more serious problems (breakdown on the road, conflict with the traffic police and even an accident).
Given the experience of several generations of motorists, one should not refuse seasonal car maintenance or limit such maintenance to changing tires. Moreover, in most of Russia, climatic conditions are characterized by significant seasonal changes in weather conditions (this is also becoming relevant for Western Europe, where in recent years there have been more frequent cases of significant cold snaps and heavy snowfalls in winter). By regularly performing seasonal maintenance, you can increase the reliability of your vehicle and keep its body in its original form for a longer period.
