Frequency of vehicle maintenance and types of scheduled maintenance (Chevrolet Tahoe 1)

Introduction



This chapter describes the checks and adjustments necessary to maintain the vehicle's high performance, economy, driving safety and durability.

The procedures are described in detail in the relevant chapters and this section.


Every 400 km or weekly (whichever comes first)



Check the fluid levels in the engine, windshield washer reservoir, brake, clutch and steering fluid reservoirs, tire pressure and tire condition.

Every 5000 km or 6 months (whichever comes first)



Perform 400 km service and the following procedures.

Checking the fluid level in the automatic transmission and in the power steering reservoir.

Changing engine oil and oil filter.

Check the automatic transmission fluid level.

Check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir.

Check the battery status.

Check the condition of the cooling system.

Inspect and replace all hoses in the engine compartment if necessary.

Inspect and replace wiper blades if necessary.

Change the engine oil and filter.

Lubricate the chassis parts and components.

Check the condition of the suspension and steering components.

Check the condition of the exhaust system.

Check the oil level in the manual transmission.

Check the oil level in the gearbox.

Every 12500 km or 12 months (whichever comes first)



Perform 5,000 km service and the following procedures.

Check the operation of the clutch hydraulic drive.

Rearrange the wheels.

Check the brakes.

Inspect the fuel system components.

Replace the air filter.

Replace the fuel filter.

Check the tightening torque of the throttle body mounting bolt.



Check the throttle linkage.

Check the condition of the drive belt.

Check the condition of the seat belts.

Check the starter interlock switch.

Check the thermostatic air cleaner.

Every 50,000 km or 24 months (whichever comes first)



Perform the 12,500 km service and the following procedures.

Change automatic transmission fluid (**).

Change the oil in the gearbox. Check the condition of the front wheel bearings, replace the grease in the bearings (*).

Change the engine coolant.

Check the exhaust gas recirculation system.

Replace the spark plugs.

Inspect the spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor.

Check and, if necessary, adjust the ignition timing.

Every 100,000 km or 36 months (whichever comes first)



Perform 50,000 km service and the following procedures.

Change the oil in the manual transmission.

Inspect and replace the crankcase ventilation valve if necessary.

Check the condition of the devices

and hoses of the gasoline vapor recovery system.

Inspect the electronic vacuum valve (if provided).

(*) When operating the vehicle in difficult conditions (driving with a target or on dusty roads, as well as in low gear at an air temperature below 0°C and with frequent single trips over a distance of less than 6 km), these types of work should be performed after 5,000 km or every 3 months.


(**) When driving in hot climates (temperatures above 35°C), in mountainous terrain or with a trailer, change the transmission fluid every 25,000 km.
