PCM control unit — removal and installation (Chevrolet Trailblazer 1)

Caution: To prevent damage to the electronic unit, an antistatic device must be used when handling it. grounded to the vehicle body. After removal, place the unit on an antistatic pad.


Note 1: Each time the PCM is replaced, it must be reprogrammed using special equipment. You also need to reset the crankshaft position sensor option parameters and enter the password for the anti-theft system. The following procedure is only applicable to the removal and installation of an existing PCM. If the electronic control unit needs to be replaced, the vehicle must be taken to an authorized service station.


Note 2: Each time the battery is disconnected, the stored operating parameters may be deleted from the electronic memory of the microprocessor, which will result in rough engine operation until the data is reloaded into the PCM.


1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Clean the area around the PCM connectors.

3. Remove the bolts and carefully disconnect the electrical connectors from the PCM (see illustration).

4. Unscrew the mounting bolts and nuts and remove the PCM unit (see illustration).

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
