Evaporator core — removal and installation (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Remove the air conditioning unit. See "Air conditioning unit" in this section.

2. Remove the heater heat exchanger. See section 7A, "Heating and Ventilation System".

3. Unscrew the screws securing the halves of the evaporator housing.

4. Remove the evaporator heat exchanger housing cover.

4. Remove the evaporator heat exchanger housing cover.


5. Remove the evaporator heat exchanger from the housing.

6. Remove the air conditioner expansion valve. See "Air Conditioner Expansion Valve" in this section.

7. Remove the thermistor. See "Thermistor" in this section.

7. Remove the thermistor. See «Thermistor» in this section.


Installation procedure



1. Place the sealing rings on the evaporator tubes.

2. Install the air conditioner expansion valve. See "Air Conditioner Expansion Valve" in this section.



3. Install the thermistor in place. See "Thermistor" in this section.

3. Install the thermistor in place. See «Thermistor» in this section.


4. Install the evaporator heat exchanger into the housing. Install the evaporator flange in the center of the opening in the housing.

5. Assemble the evaporator housing halves and tighten the screws.

6. Install the heater/air distributor housing assembly. See "Air Conditioner Expansion Valve" in this section.
