Air conditioner suction hose assembly (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. See "Procedures for discharging, refilling oil, vacuuming and charging the air conditioning system" in this section.

3. Loosen the expansion tank mounting screws.

4. Remove the expansion tank.

5. Loosen the retaining nut from the hose connector block and remove the air conditioner hose connector block from the top rear of the compressor.

6. Cap all openings to prevent contamination.

7. Loosen the intake hose support clamp bolt and remove the clamp on the left side of the wing niche in the engine compartment.

8. Remove the retaining nut from the evaporator flange connection block and remove the air conditioner suction hose from the connection block on the evaporator flange on the firewall. Discard the sealing ring.



9. Remove the air conditioner suction hose.

10. Close the evaporator flange with a cap to prevent contamination.

Installation procedure



1. Place a new sealing ring onto the end of the suction hose on the evaporator flange.

2. Install the hose assembly and support clamp into place in the vehicle.

3. Insert the end of the suction hose into the evaporator flange.

4. Tighten the fastening nuts on the evaporator flange connection block.

Tighten

Tighten the fastening nuts on the suction hose connection block to 16 Nm (12 ft·lbs).

5. Install new sealing washers onto the suction/discharge block fitting guide pins. The washers must be flush with the block fitting surface.

6. Install the suction hose support clamp onto the shock absorber strut on the left side and tighten the mounting nut on the support clamp.

Tighten the fastening nut on the suction hose support clamp to 16 Nm (12 ft·lbs).

7. Place the outlet hose connector block back onto the compressor. Hold it in place and tighten the retaining nut.

Tighten the nut securing the outlet hose connection block to the compressor with a torque of 16 N·m (12 ft·lbs).

8. Install the expansion tank. See section 1D, "Engine Cooling".

9. Connect the negative battery cable.

10. Evacuate and charge the air conditioning system. See "Procedures for discharging, refilling oil, vacuuming and charging the air conditioning system" in this section.
