High pressure air conditioner piping (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Evacuate the refrigerant. See "Procedures for discharging, refilling oil, vacuuming and charging the air conditioning system" in this section.

3. Loosen the nut on the compressor hose connection block.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pressure sensor.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pressure sensor.


5. Unscrew the nut on the capacitor connection block.

6. Unscrew the nut securing the high pressure tube to the condenser.

6. Unscrew the nut securing the high pressure tube to the condenser.


7. Loosen the fastening nut on the high pressure tube connection block to the evaporator flange.

7. Loosen the fastening nut on the high pressure tube connection block to the evaporator flange.


8. Remove the expansion tank. See section 1D, "Engine Cooling".



9. Loosen the ECM bracket mounting nuts.

10. Loosen the mounting bolt and nut on the clamps securing the high-pressure pipe to the vehicle body.

11. Remove the high pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation procedure



1. Install the high pressure hose on the vehicle.

2. Tighten the ECM bracket mounting nuts.

Tighten

Tighten the ECM bracket mounting nuts to 15 N·m (11 ft·lbs).

3. Install a new sealing ring onto the tube on the condenser.

4. Tighten the nut securing the high pressure tube to the condenser connection block.

Tighten

Tighten the nut securing the high pressure pipe to the condenser connection block with a torque of 14 N·m (10 ft·lbs).

5. Tighten the nut on the capacitor connection block.

Tighten



Tighten the nut on the condenser connection block to 16 Nm (12 lb-ft).

Tighten the nut on the condenser connection block to 16 Nm (12 lb-ft).


6. Tighten the fastening nut on the high pressure tube connection block to the evaporator flange.

Tighten

Tighten the fastening nut on the high pressure pipe connection block to the evaporator flange with a torque of 16 N·m (12 ft·lbs).

7. Tighten the nut on the compressor hose connection block.

Tighten the nut on the compressor hose connection block to 16 Nm (12 ft·lbs).

8. Tighten the mounting bolt and nut on the clamps securing the high-pressure pipe to the vehicle body.

9. Connect the electrical connector to the pressure sensor.

10. Install the expansion tank. See section 1D, "Engine Cooling".

11. Connect the negative battery cable.



12. Evacuate and charge the air conditioning system. See "Procedures for discharging, refilling oil, vacuuming and charging the air conditioning system" in this section.
