Door assembly — removal and installation (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the bolt and the door open position retainer from the body.

3. With the help of another mechanic, remove the door hinge bolts and the front door. (the front door is shown, the back door is similar).

4. Disconnect the rubber bushing between the body and the door and the electrical connector.

Installation procedure



1. Connect the electrical connector and the rubber bushing that secures the body to the door.

Note: Direct contact of dissimilar metals may result in rapid corrosion. Use proper fasteners to avoid premature corrosion.


2. With the help of another mechanic, lightly secure the front door with the door hinge bolts(The front door is shown, the back door is similar).

3. Adjust the door fit.

Tighten

Tighten the bolts securing the door hinge to the body to 27.5 N·m (20 ft·lbs)

4. Attach the door open position retainer to the body with bolts.

Tighten

Tighten the bolt securing the door open position retainer to the body with a torque of 20 N·m (15 lb-ft).

5. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.

6. Perform a leak test. Go to section 9I, Water Leakage.

7. Check for wind noise. Go to section 9J, Wind Noise.
