Oil pan (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Remove the lower engine shield. Follow section 9N, Frame and Underbody.

2. Drain the engine oil.

3. Remove the air intake hoses and ducts. See Section 31.

4. Remove the bolts securing the oil pan flange to the gearbox with the final drive assembly.

5. Remove the lower bolts of the air conditioning compressor.

6. Remove the oil pan.

Cleaning procedure



1. Clean the sealing surface of the oil pan.

2. Clean the sealing surface of the engine support plate.

3. Clean the oil pan screws.

4. Clean the engine support plate bolt holes.

4. Clean the engine support plate bolt holes.


Installation procedure



Important: When changing the engine oil, reset the engine oil service before changing using a diagnostic tool.




1. Apply sealant (LOCTITE 5900) onto the sealing surface of the oil pan.

2. Install the oil pan.

3. Tighten the lower bolts of the air conditioning compressor.

4. Install the oil pan flange bolts to the transaxle assembly.

Tighten

Tighten the oil pan tie bolts to 11 N·m (97.4 lbs.in).

Tighten the lower A/C compressor bolts to 23 N·m (17 ft·lbs).

Tighten the oil pan flange mounting bolts to the gearbox assembly to 50 N·m (36.9 ft·lbs).

Tighten the oil pan flange mounting bolts to the gearbox assembly to 50 N·m (36.9  ft·lbs).
