Crankshaft balancer (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure

1. Remove the lower engine shield. Follow section 9N, Frame and Underbody.

2. Drain the engine oil.

3. Remove the oil pan. Follow step "Oil pan" in this section.

4. Remove the oil filter. See "Coarse oil filter" in this section.



5. Remove the crankshaft balancer.

Installation procedure

Important: When changing the engine oil, reset the engine oil service before changing using a diagnostic tool.

1. Install the crankshaft balancer.

Tighten

Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolts to 55 Nm (46 ft·lbs).



2. Rotate the crankshaft to align the crankshaft balancer at 3 points on the gears.

Caution! Do not disassemble the crankshaft balancer. Otherwise, vibration of the engine and body may occur.
