Engine oil filter and radiator (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the decorative cover. See "Decorative cover" in this section.

3. Remove the air intake hoses and ducts. See "Air injection system" in this section.

4. Remove the fuel filter assembly. See Section 1F1, Engine Controls - 2.0 Diesel.

5. Drain the engine oil.

6. Loosen the drain bolt in the oil filter housing together with the washer and drain the engine oil from the oil filter housing.

7. Remove the oil filter cover with the O-ring.

8. Remove the oil filter.

Note: Check the engine oil filling interval and replace the engine oil filter according to the interval. You can also check the remaining service life of the engine oil with the diagnostic tool.

9. Remove the adapter plate for the oil filter housing.



10. Remove the oil filter housing with the O-ring.

11. Drain the engine coolant. See Section 1D1, Engine Cooling - 2.0 Diesel.

12. Loosen the oil filter housing fitting bolt.

13. Disconnect the engine cooling system oil cooler inlet/outlet hoses.

14. Remove the engine cooling system oil cooler with the O-ring seal.

Installation procedure



1. Install the engine cooling system oil cooler with a new O-ring.

2. Connect the inlet/outlet hoses of the engine cooling system oil cooler.

Tighten

Tighten the engine oil filter housing fitting bolt to 50 N·m (36.9 ft·lbs).

3. Install the engine oil filter housing with a new O-ring.



4. Install the adapter plate for the oil filter housing.

Tighten

Tighten the adapter plate for the oil filter housing to 40 N·m (29.5 ft·lbs).

5. Install the engine oil filter and cover with a new O-ring.

Tighten

Tighten the engine oil filter cap to 25 N·m (18.4 ft·lbs).

Important: When changing the engine oil, reset the engine oil service before changing using a diagnostic tool.
