Necessary equipment
- DT-48200 Fixture of a case of a transmission with the final drive assy
- DT-48241 Transaxle housing bearing race plate assembly
- DT-48242 Clutch housing bearing race plate
1. With a rubber mallet, lightly tap the mating surface of the transaxle housing with the final drive assembly to ensure that the bearings are fully seated.
2. Install the DT-48200 to the transaxle case assembly.
3. Using the DT-48200 and an altimeter, adjust the zero point setting for each location on the transaxle case flange face.
Important: To set the zero point, adjust the height of the DT-48200.
4. Measure with an altimeter in three places on the surface of the thrust ring of the output shaft gear. (Average = A)
- Height from transaxle case flange face to thrust collar face.
5. Locate the clutch housing differential bearing race, differential, transaxle housing differential bearing race assembly and DT-48241 on DT-48242 (for four wheel drive) or DT-48534 (for all-wheel drive).
6. Using an altimeter, adjust the zero point setting for each location on the bearing race surface of the transaxle housing differential.
7. Measure with an altimeter at three places on the surface of the epicyclic gear wheel of the differential gear. (Average = B)
- Height from the differential bearing cage of the transaxle case assembly to the surface of the differential epicyclic gear.
8. Use the altimeter to take measurements at three locations on the DT-48242 (for four wheel drive) or DT-48534 (for all-wheel drive).
- Height from the gearbox housing differential bearing race to the clutch housing differential bearing race.
9. To obtain the shim size for the transaxle case assembly, use the following formula.
S1 (For FWD and AWD) = 62.92 mm - A - B
10. To obtain the shim size for the clutch housing, use the following formula:
S2 (For FWD) = 156.84 mm - C - S1
S2 (for AWD)= 158.09 mm - C - S1

- For four wheel drive, the gasket size for the clutch housing and transaxle housing assembly.
- For all-wheel drive, the gasket size for the transaxle case assembly.
