2. Loosen the bolt and remove the washer from the ball joint, remove the joint and rod from the steering column (see photo).

3. Unpin and disconnect the rod from the equalizer lever (see photo).

4. Unpin and remove the equalizing rod (see photo).

5. Clean the parts.
6. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Replace all cotter pins. Adjust the rod.
7. Set the car to the parking brake.
8. Loosen the steering column joint lock bolt.
9. Move the transmission selector lever on the column to position N (ignore the selector position indicator readings).
10. Move the transmission gear shift lever forward until it stops, then back until it clicks a second time.
11. While holding the rod on the ball joint, tighten the gear shift lever nut to the specified torque.
12. Check the adjustment. The lever should move to all positions, and the engine should start only in the P and N lever positions. Repeat the adjustment if necessary. If necessary, also adjust the position of the locking switch.
13. When finished, set the gearshift lever position indicator opposite the corresponding position designation. To do this, move the indicator cable retainer bracket on the steering column trim.
